What materials do you print on?

Each Fine Art Print is produced on the esteemed Hahnemühle Photo Rag, recognized for its superior quality, rich blacks, uniform colour reproduction and exceptional detail. The ultra-matte finish makes it a favourite among illustrators and photographers. The surface has a slight texture with a velvety cotton feel, facilitating seamless colour gradients. The paper's delicate nature requires careful handling, but thanks to our one-of-a-kind, Canadian-crafted barn board and live-edge frames your valuable artwork is impeccably protected.

Our Canvas Wraps are printed on thick poly-cotton canvas with kiln-dried, Canadian basswood frames. Your artwork will never sag or warp! Our green-certified HP ink is rated for 200-plus years of fade resistance.

Our Gallery Boxes are printed using a giclee UV inkjet method, which renders vibrant colours in a wide gamut with original AGFA inks. Each has a 1/4’’ rigid white panel and solid hardwood flush-mounted frame in a choice of four colours. Also rated for 200-plus years of fade resistance.

Our Acrylic Prints are
modern, glossy and require 22 production steps to create! The process starts with a thick, 1/4'' optically clear sheet of acrylic. The image is printed directly on the back of the acrylic using state-of-the-art inkjet printers for sharp details. Then, it's mounted on a white protective backing sheet and they polish the edges to a crystal-clear sheen. This means your acrylic refracts light from edge to edge.

Our HD Metal Prints use a contemporary style of printing where an image is infused directly onto a sheet of specially coated aluminum. The result is a rich, vibrant piece of art that offers incredible depth and luminosity. The process begins by printing onto a transfer paper using fine art quality inks. The printed paper is then placed on top of a treated aluminum sheet, and the two are inserted into a heat press. The press uses high temperatures and pressure to infuse the ink from the paper into the coating of the aluminum sheet.

The aluminum sheet used is typically 1-3mm thick and has a special coating that allows the image to be infused. The coating makes the print resistant to elements like water, dust and sunlight, ensuring the longevity of the image.

What is the difference between an Acrylic Print and HD Metal Print?

Acrylic Prints

Acrylic Prints are produced using high-quality print paper sandwiched between two layers of acrylic. The front layer of acrylic enhances the image's colour, depth and resolution, giving it a stunning, glass-like appearance. This method of printing preserves the longevity of the artwork and adds a modern, sleek aesthetic.

They are known for their vibrant colours and high gloss finish, making them an excellent choice for vibrant and high-contrast images. However, they may not be suitable for areas with direct, bright lights due to potential glare. The same is true for the high-gloss finish of an HD Metal Print.

The thickness of our Acrylic Prints is just over 6mm (1/4-inch), providing a premium feel. They feature a Float Mount Hanging System that displays the print half an inch from the wall for a three-dimensional aesthetic.

HD Metal Prints

HD Metal Prints involve printing the image directly onto a metal surface. The image is infused into the metal using heat, resulting in a print with incredible detail.

Our HD Metal Prints, while possessing a high-gloss finish and being 1mm thick, offer an unparalleled level of detail. However, they may be susceptible to fine hairline scratches and are not recommended for high-traffic areas.

Although we use UV-stable inks with both our Metal Prints and Acrylic Prints, allowing them to stay vibrant and beautiful for over 100 years, if you want to display your photo outdoors, Metal Prints are your best option.
